Thanks to its hall-sized spatial audio installation with 32 permanently installed loudspeakers the Centre for Immersive Media Art, Music and Technology e.V. is a space for plunging into and immersing oneself in works of art. The non-profit association ZiMMT was founded in 2020 and is equally a venue for immersive arts and music as well as a platform for research and knowledge transfer. It enables productions, interdisciplinary labs, residencies, software and app development, university research, professional and low-threshold mediation of art and music and the organization of events, exhibitions and concerts. Most events at ZiMMT are hybrid: An immersive live-stream using binaural sound and multiple cameras allows to transport the spatial experience into the digital sphere.

Music Innovation Hub views music as a driving force of social innovation: music is social change. Therefore MiH powers innovative, socially responsible projects in the music industry. Launched in Milan in 2018, it is the first social enterprise of its kind in Italy to develop solutions that support the growth of the music industry and helps businesses to work towards a more sustainable future through music projects. They promote a range of international programs for training, incubation, acceleration and networking, including Music Tech Europe, Creative SHIFT and JUMP, as well as solidarity projects. They organize various live formats and events, including Heroes, the first large-scale hybrid concert in the history of Italian music, and Linecheck, a leading international networking event for the Italian music industry. Immersive events take place at their space LA CAPSULA, a 60m2 box equipped for 360° filming and streaming for showcases.

Founded in 1965, the Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics combines artistic innovation with research and experimental development. The IEM acts as a pioneering intersection between science and art, between new technologies and musical practice. Research and development include the fields of artistic research, signal processing and acoustics as well as computer music. The special infrastructure at the IEM allows for inter- and trans-disciplinary questions to be explored experimentally. The evolution of the arts is also advanced with the creation of new works of electronic music, media and sound art. The CUBE, a larger 3D audio concert venue of 120m2 with more than 80 speakers, is part of IEM as well as two studios equipped with spatial hardware setups.

Effenaar has been a household name in Eindhoven for more than 50 years. The iconic building hosts a multifunctional pop stage with two venues, a restaurant-café and its own backyard. In addition to a vibrant music venue, Effenaar offers space for innovation and high-tech experiments with Effenaar Lab: a space to discover the future of music. Since 2018, Effenaar Lab has been the place to learn about the use of new technologies that currently have a major impact on the music industry and music experiences such as 5G, AR, VR, wearables, live streaming – and to experiment with it. The lab has already collaborated with a large number of artists, tech companies and educational institutions from the region and beyond. With the realization of various (research) programs, including Fieldlab Social Cohesion, Chronosphere and Poplab, and resulting projects, services and products – including The Sessions – Effenaar Lab has grown into a unique place in the Netherlands.

Founded in 2021 by composer and artist Brigitta Muntendorf, ECHO FACTORY is a community of practice, networking internationally with research labs for digital productions and as a non-profit organization aiming to promote trans-digital arts and culture on a global level. Its main partners are HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts, Ars Electronica Futurelab and the Goethe-Institut. ECHO FACTORY is sponsored by the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media.

Founded in 2019 the company is specialized in creating bespoke spatial sound concepts for a wide range of live shows and installation formats. The company develops software for spatialized sound and music focusing on their artistic perspective. The project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, also acts as a translation tool for various spatial audio standards.

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences specializes in the analysis and development of computer games, digital media in theory and practice, media conception and production, programming and scripting, project-oriented group work and project management. One of the key departments for this research is the Department of Computer Science and Languages and the degree programme „Applied Computer Science–Digital Media and Game Development“ under the direction of Prof. Dr. Alexander Carôt. A professor for media informatics, Alexander Carôt especially focuses on the software SoundJack, which he developed. Soundjack is a real-time communication system and provides quality- and latency-relevant parameters to its users, in brief: it enables real-time transmission of information, such as streamed sound. In this sense, Soundjack is often used as a real-time/online jam solution that allows musicians and singers to interact as if they were in the same room.
